From then until the end of the war the Marine-Fliegerabteilung (Navy Aviation Department) and Die Fliegertruppen des deutschen Kaiserreiches (Imperial German Flying Corps) mounted over 50 bombing raids on the United Kingdom.
The main campaign against Britain started in January 1915 using airships. The best known German strategic bombing campaign during the First World War was the campaign against Britain, although strategic bombing raids were carried out or attempted on other fronts.
